MEET THE TEAM
My love of horses started when I was six years old. My uncle lived near racing stables and at every opportunity I pestered him to visit the stables and ride the horses, to the point that the head trainer gave in and taught me to ride. I started riding bareback in the round yard until I could really control a horse without the use of a saddle or bridle. After achieving this I would exercise the young thoroughbreds and soon was mustering cattle over hundreds of acres of land on his property at Mulbring, NSW.
From there my love of horses grew more and more. I have always owned horses and realised just how much joy they give me. Working with horses gives me a feeling of peace and tranquility and an awareness that animals give us a love and understanding that is unmatched.
I have worked with horses for more than fifty years, from teaching children to ride and care for a horse at Stroud Pony Club as well as organising events. Over the years I have rescued and rehabilitated over 40 green broke horses, successfully re-homing the majority. In the past I have also volunteered at Riding for Disabled at Raymond Terrace.
I have training in Level 1 AEFL (Australian Equine Facilitated Learning) as well as three years training in EPR (Equine Positional Release). I have also gained my qualifications as an Equine Positional Therapist.
I am currently pursuing obtaining a rescued Brumby to add to my herd of 3.
I have always had a love of animals and in my teens and twenties went on many horse trail rides, however when I met my husband Garry, my time and love of horses was fostered. He introduced me to Ellie, our thoroughbred and when we first saw her she came up and nuzzled him first, then me, as if to say…”Take me home!”
Our herd has grown over the last 8 years and I have grown with them. I really enjoy hanging around and playing with them and receive so much from them.
I believe I can thank the horses for giving me more peace, balance and joy in my life.
